Our own Curious Traveler, Andria Rucker, is leading a group of 26 from Manchester in the north of England down to the Chelsea Flower Show in London. She will be sharing their adventures as they travel through the early summer gardens and rolling countryside.
Thursday May 20th - Day 2
We left the Blossom Hotel early for a full day of glorious gardens, a Castle, and afternoon tea.
Powis Castle, originally a fortress owned by the Welsh princes of Powys, was our first stop. The countryside is beautiful and the castle sits high on a ridge looking over lush terraced gardens. We were met by Adrian Lovet, the head gardener, who explained the history and design plan of the gardens. Some of us toured inside the castle while others explored the gardens.
