Announcing Our Tours for 2012
The Good News Girlz are delighted to announce four fun and fantastic international tours for 2012. South America in January, Italy in May, France in June, and back to Italy with a slightly different route in September. Two of our tours will be prototrips -- new tours designed for those willing to jump out front and take life as it comes. We know the areas, we know the wines and have solid itineraries, but the tours will be new to us. The other two will be repeats of successful tours.
Wherever we go, whatever we do, our tours all share this:
Food, Wine, Hiking, and a dash of culture
January 17-28 2012
A prototrip to the South American Wine Regions for ten intrepid folk ready to explore wines, hike the Andes, and learn to dance the Tango.
Four days in Santiago will give us time to explore three wine valleys: Casablanca, Colchagua, and Maipo with a side trip to Valparaiso and at least one of the homes of famed Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda.
Mendoza is the fertile home of some of our favorite wines. We will visit boutique wineries that don't yet ship to the US, take a cooking class at Andeluna, and hike the Andes. Home for these four nights will be our own private wine villa.
Buenos Aires, home of Eva Peron, has museums to visit, history to explore, and great shopping. As our last stop, BA presents a perfect opportunity to fill our suitcases with South American treasures: leather, lapis lazuli, and wine.
May 1-12 2012 Just the Girlz
A spectacular return to the Italian wonders that started it all. A women only group will travel through the lovely Piedmont area, the dazzling Cinque Terre and beautiful Verona. We will stay in Alba for 4 nights, taking day trips to wineries in the Barolo and Barbaresco wine and eating at local mostly family run restaurants. Then three nights in the Cinque Terre for hiking, a cooking class or boat tour of the 5 towns and more amazing dinners at local Ligurian restaurants. From there, we head over to Verona for an intimate tour of the city with a local tour guide, shopping, a day trip to Lake Garda and tastings of wines from the Valpolicella region (think Amarone).
June 5-17 2012
"Burgundy makes you think of silly things, Bordeaux makes you talk of them, and Champagne makes you do them"- Brillat-Savarin
Our prototrip of the three most famous wine regions in France will include winery tastings, hiking in spectacular rolling hillsides and tasting lovely French cuisine. We plan to spend 4 nights in Bordeaux, 4 nights in Burgundy and 2 nights in Champagne. A perfect romantic get away for you and your special someone.
September 2012
Italy in the fall! It just doesn't get better. In the Piedmont, truffles are beginning to show up in the markets, grapes are being harvested, and the meals alone are worth the trip. Four nights there will give us time to visit special wineries, hike through leafy hills and vineyards, and dine family style in some of the world's best eating establishments. Next we visit Parma, where we will watch them make Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Prosciutto di Parma. To work off the effects of that wonderful food, we'll tour the Baptistery and Arturo Toscanini's Birthplace and Museum, and hike a bit in the Appennine Mountains. From there, it's Verona for a tour that includes all the latest gossip about the city, stories about Dante, Romeo and Juliet and Andrea Bocelli. We'll make time for some amazing shopping, a day trip to Lake Garda, and, of course, those luscious wines of the Veneto.
These are small tours with limited space. If you're interested, let us know right away. Email us at info@goodnewsgirlz.com or call Karla at 214 729 4870. We hope to have you with us.
