Dropping off Alex and Erin meant dropping off the monster van. We were sorry to see the kids go, but the relief of seeing the end of that van almost made up for it. We traded the Europcar people the van for a Renault BeBop, the same car Andria and I had in the fall. Great little car. Little is good here. Roomier inside than it looks or seems to drive, it has a lot of zip.

First we zipped to the Matisse Museum in Nice. Wonderful building with some of his later work. We couldn't take photos inside, but the coolest thing is the furniture. They have several chairs and lamps that you will recognize from his paintings and drawings.

The weather forecast was for more cold and precipitation, and we changed our plans a bit. We need to be in Paris for a flight on the 7th, but don't want to be hanging around Paris in freezing rain. We booked a room in a restaurant run by Michel Chabran that's in a town called Pont de l'Isere, just south of Lyon. The rooms are beautiful and the food is worth a detour.

We stopped just before the snow started. Lovely soft snow and lots of it. I wore the LBD with a black, cashmere hoodie, warm boots, turquoise scarf, and black jeans. Looked great and, with big down coat, was very warm.
