katy trail
Thank you for participating in the Good News Girlz seven week fitness challenge.  Our top point winners were Susan Via, Lori Peniche, and Bobbi Bilnoski. They walked, they trained, they commented, and they attended exercise classes. Congratulations! Checks will be presented to our five charity sponsors:  North Texas Food Bank, Family Place, Dallas Haiti Project, The Women's Museum, and Attitudes & Attires.

We've had a blast with the exercises, articles, experts, and quizzes. In fact we've had so much fun that we're not going to let the fitness project slip away. One of the things we learned from Sharon Jones, our Kettlebells expert, is that most resolutions are made January 1st and most are broken by February 14th. The GNGs want to keep the spirit alive and help you stick to your goals. We will have an exercise outing one Saturday every month for activities you love to do or have always wanted to try or just enjoy. We have in mind: ice skating, belly dancing, and yoga. If you have ideas, let us know. We love to try new things. We'll continue the Katy Trail walks on Sunday afternoons. Keep an eye on the right column where events are posted. If you see the posting, sign up and we'll meet you there.

All you have to do is set your goal. Bobbi Bilnoski, a faithful participant in the fitness challenge, told us that she made the resolution and Good News Girlz provided the willpower. So let's keep moving.

Continuous challenge

A great wrap up to a fun challenge. I am reflecting on the goals I set when we launched the challenge in January. I fell short of my workout schedule but I did some things I haven't done in years (boxing), I tried some things I had never tried before (Kettlebells) and I made some new friends (Bobbi). I also remember I made myself a promise to not be so critical of my body and I did get closer to that goal.
