Life in Venice

A photo journal
Friday, January 6th, 2012

My only memory of Venice from a trip taken with my family when I was six years old involves my gelato, attacking pigeons, and their aggressive dominance of Piazza San Marco.  My image of Venice rivals a scene from The Birds. Finally, after over fifty years, I made a return trip and have fresh, more pleasant memories of this beautiful city. Now when I think of Venice I'll remember the beautiful Grand Canal with colorful gondolas slipping past, the impressive Ducal Palace, the colorful and rowdy crowds on the Rialto Bridge, and, of course, Piazza San Marco, but for the grandeur of the Basilica and not the birds. Here are a few of our photos.
