Spritz Cookies from Betty Crocker’s 18th printing (1973) Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened ½ cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract ½ tsp Salt 2 1/4 all-purpose flour Colored sugar or sprinkles (optional) Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 400°F. In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar on medium speed of electric mixer until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour; mix on low speed just until blended. Dough will be soft; do not refrigerate. 2. Fit Cookie Press with desired disk. Fill with dough. Press dough onto Cookie Sheet about an inch apart. Decorate cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles, if desired. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set, but not brown. NOTE: Pampered Chef’s recipe is also a great recipe. The proportions are a bit different. It calls for 1 ½ cup of Butter and 3 1/3 cups of flour, and the same amounts for the other ingredients. It’s a little more like a true butter cookie. |
