In late November I saw a Groupon for an exciting 'Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride and Hot Cocoa Experience in the Rocky Mountains'. It looked like fun, but I didn't plan on buying it until my daughter said she thought it would be a wonderful thing to do with her children when they came to visit for the holidays. Since I don't deny my grandchildren anything like that, I bought the Groupon for 4 people.

Sunday morning, my husband and I were having a leisurely breakfast, reading the newspaper, when I saw an article about the 21st Annual International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Only a 15 minute drive away from Snowmass village, Aspen has many activities for young children, in addition to the Aspen/Snowmass youth camps. Families can ride the Silver Queen Gondola to the top of Ajax Mountain, where kids can enjoy several free activities and entertainment, including live animals, juggling, kite building and flying and storytelling.

People say they come to Snowmass for the winter, but stay for the summer. This is a true fact. Summer in the mountains is wonderful, especially for those of us from extremely hot climates.
